Police foil Lungi March to Baridhara

Update : 18 Apr 2013, 08:58 AM

I cannot grasp why the police stopped the protesters of the “Lungi March” from making their way to Baridhara. They clearly did not pose a threat to security as most of the protesters seemed to be well educated, upper middle class students or young professionals. There is no legal basis for stopping people from entering Baridhara, which after all, is a public area. The rules that the members of the Baridhara society are trying to enforce are just ludicrous and the students and professionals who gathered for the lungi march should have been allowed to really send them a message.
