This Eid we will have to be extra responsible
This Eid-ul-Azha, billions of Muslims across the world and the millions amongst them who live in Bangladesh will be united in celebration and spiritual reflection, and the fundamental spirit of the occasion is no different from other years.
And yet, there are differences in the reality of the celebreations we cannot ignore. We are all experiencing a year that has forced us to confront the ways of doing things, and adjusting to a new normal.
As a global pandemic forces us to be more careful and safer than we have ever had to be, this Eid we will have to be extra responsible.
While billions of will be united in spirit, we will also be largely separated by our understanding of this pandemic, which has forced us to maintain distance from our fellow Muslim brothers and sisters, from our near and dear ones.
Eid-ul-Azha is all about sacrifice, and this year, we will be performing a different sort of sacrifice, whereby we respect the importance of safety and cleanliness, and act in accordance with an understanding for the safety of our fellow citizen, so that we all may be safe. This may require some changes in behaviour on our part.
With warnings of militancy and, most recently, a bomb explosion at Pallabi police situation, we must understand that there might even be more challenges ahead of us than we realize.
So, let us see this Eid an opportunity to revisit the values we hold dear and strengthen them in order to be even more united in our fight against all the things that threaten our safety.
Eid Mubarak to all our readers.
