Technology is one of the most fundamental aspects that distinguish developed nations from the poorer ones

It is wonderful to see that the Sheikh Kamal IT Incubator and Training Centre has been inaugurated at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Hi-tech Park in Rajshahi by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The scope of this project is nothing if not ambitious. The 72,000 square-foot building boasts resources such as multi-purpose training facilities, high quality start-ups, rainwater harvesting facilities, and renewable energy resources.

For a number of years now, our nation has been working towards the vision of a “Digital Bangladesh,” and the scale of what is being done here is a great leap forward in that direction. This centre will not only help foster an IT-based and computer-literate society, which seems mandatory as we move into the future, but also be a great generator of employment.

Furthermore, the project will give a tremendous boost to young entrepreneurs who embrace the internet as the new way of doing business. The right ideas are already there, now all they need is the right kind of support.

Technology is one of the most fundamental aspects that distinguish developed nations from the poorer ones. Tech proficiency is needed not just to excel in the tech sector, but in all other business, like RMG or retail.

Bangladesh is dealing with a number of daunting challenges right now, from traffic, to air pollution, to climate change. All of these problems can be tackled using innovative ideas, because technology can enable sustainability. From reducing industrial waste to reducing the number of cars on the road, solutions are being thought up by the brightest minds in IT-related fields.

It is good to see Bangladesh on board.
