Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina stands as an example of how to be a leader worth following.
From the way she has driven Bangladesh forward on the path towards progress and economic development, to her role in the Rohingya crisis, our prime minister has shown the world what Bangladesh can do.
As such, it comes as no surprise that the prestigious Forbes magazine has recognised her as one of the most powerful women in the world.
The prime minister’s role in pushing Bangladesh to its full potential cannot be denied, nor can her instrumental part in ensuring that the persecuted Rohingya receive safe haven in our country.
This shows courage, compassion, and sensitivity -- the likes of which very few leaders in the world can boast.
Her inclusion in the list not only highlights the fact that Bangladesh is being considered a true component of the emerging global era, but also that our spirit is being treated as an example of how countries should deal with those less fortunate than us.
Bangladesh, of course, still has a long way to go as a nation. We have some of the toughest challenges ahead of us. And the path forward will not be easy, as we cater to a burgeoning populace consisting of diverse groups of people.
But our prime minister’s leadership has shown that the obstacles on this path can be overcome.
