Amilitant has been killed, and a plan to attack processions to Bangabandhu Memorial Museum on the national day of mourning has been prevented.
We thank our brave law enforcement personnel for making the raid known as Operation August Bite a success -- good intelligence and timely action may have saved many lives.
One can only wonder about the extent of the damage that may have been done if the militant had succeeded, as he was holed up in a hotel mere yards away from Bangabandhu Memorial Museum.
However, these alarmingly frequent raids also serve as a reminder of the scale of the militant threat we are battling -- raids can foil specific attacks, but as a society we must do more to stop young people from turning to terrorism.
We cannot let a single one of them slip through the cracks.
