When transportation workers go on strike, it is the hard-working citizens of the country who suffer.
The recent strike in Barisal is a case in point.
Though we are glad that the strike has been called off after 16 hours, it behooves the workers and the authorities to ensure that disputes are resolved without inconveniencing the lives of the ordinary citizens of our country.
While it is understandable that workers have demands, it is preferable that these issues are addressed in a civil manner at meetings which do not harm the commutes of those who rely on the bus services to get to work and other places.
This is easily doable.
The people should come first, always.
