Bangladesh's Rumana Ahmed plays a shot during their Asia Cup final against India in Kuala Lumpur Sunday

Our women’s team stands as a paragon of excellence, hard work, and discipline

Our heartiest congratulations to the Bangladesh women’s cricket team.

These incredible ladies have just made history by beating India in the Asia Cup final.

Restricting the opponent to a mere 112 runs, the ladies in green and red chased down the target against six-time champions India, winning by three wickets.

It was a match for the history books, with the game going down to the last ball, worthy of a battle between any two world-class cricketing sides.

With this victory, the women’s side has proven that they are as worthy as any cricketing side in the world, and that they are capable of greatness.

Sadly, this victory has been overshadowed by the fact that support for them has been lacking, with the team receiving nowhere near the amount of facilities received by the men’s side. What is worse is that they receive a dismal Tk600 per match as their fee.

This disparity needs to change.

The current state of affairs only goes to show the mettle they are made of, showcasing their extraordinary dedication and resilience, defeating the strongest women’s team in the region.

Our women’s team stands as a paragon of excellence, hard work, and discipline, and they should be endowed with the facilities worthy of such dedication.

Our women cricketers not only serve as role models for millions of Bangladeshis, they send a powerful message to young girls across the country that anything is possible, and barriers can be broken.

We hope this victory opens the eyes of citizens and as well as the BCB, pushing us to invest more time and money into their future, so that Bangladesh cricket goes from strength to strength.
