Shining a light on youth

Update : 21 Oct 2017, 10:28 AM

The Joy Bangla Youth Award, now in its third year, is an inspiration to countless young people to truly change Bangladesh for the better.

The award, which aims to “recognise outstanding contribution by youth-led organisations from across the country in the fields of community development, cultural activities, and sports development,” has done exactly that by endowing people with the recognition they truly deserve.

Not only that -- it has also done a great job of highlighting the struggles Bangladeshis face every day, and what they are doing to tackle these very struggles.

It is our youth who will be in charge of the country in the future, and the award recognises that.

As we move forward on the path towards development, it is more crucial now than ever to acknowledge these meritorious young people who will be instrumental in making our nation’s dreams come true.

For example, recipients of the award include Keshob Roy and Fahima Khatun, who have done great work in the fields of women’s rights and education respectively.

The award has been successful in highlighting their story and giving legitimacy to their respective organisations, thus giving them the opportunity to truly make a difference.

Additionally, the award highlights their stories, their struggles, their courage, which will no doubt inspire other young people throughout the nation.

At the end of the day, this award represents what makes each of us a Bangladeshi -- our resilience, our passion, our patriotism.

There are many more young people like Keshob and Fahima who are currently fighting the good fight in our country and the Joy Bangla Youth Award ensures that there will be many more to come in the future.
