Empty vessels cost much

When the government plans to spend a staggering Tk1,200 crore on a research vessel good for only one survey, some hard questions need to be asked. Experts are finding it difficult to explain the usefulness of the purchase, considering that better manpower is needed even to do an efficient seismic survey and to interpret the data; and that is something that might take five to ten years. The people have the right to know where and how their tax-payer money is being spent, and how it will benefit them. We have the right to know why the government is buying an expensive survey vessel, instead of spending on some things we really need, like low-cost housing, and health care.
