Senior journalist Zakaria Mukta passes away

The breathed his last at National Institute of Neurosciences & Hospital in Dhaka on Saturday evening

Senior journalist Zakaria Mukta, the news editor of Somoy TV, has passed away after suffering from a brain stroke. He was 50.

He breathed his last at the National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital in Dhaka on Saturday evening, reports Somoy TV.

Hailing from Nilphamari, Mukta had his education from different institutions in Niphamari and Dinajpur.

Prior to joining Somoy TV in 2011, Mukta had been involved in print journalism for nearly two decades in various newspapers and magazines.

He had been suffering from heart ailment since 2017. He left behind his wife, friends, and a host of well-wishers to mourn his death.  

His bereaved colleagues and friends expressed shock and grief at his untimely death.
