Chittagong-10 MP and former primary and mass education minister Dr Afsarul Amin has passed away.
He breathed his last on Friday around 4pm while receiving treatment at a private hospital in the capital, said Chittagong Metropolitan Awami League General Secretary AJM Nasir Uddin.
He was the chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education and the vice-president of the Chittagong Metropolitan Awami League.
Earlier, Dr Afsarul Amin was diagnosed with lung cancer in January 2020. Since then, he was under treatment in various hospitals.
Afsarul Amin is survived by his wife, two children, and several benefactors.
Didar Rahman Tushar, Dr Afsarul Amin's personal assistant, said arrangements are being made to take the body to Chittagong.
