Gopalganj madrasa students protest anti-Islam remarks by BJP leaders
Protestors also demand punishment of one accused of insulting the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on social media
Hundreds of teachers and students from Tungipara Gowhardanga Madrasa in Goplaganj held demonstrations protesting against the recent offensive remarks on Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by two former Indian BJP spokespersons.
The protesters formed a human chain in front of the Gopalganj Press Club on Sunday morning.
The protest began at 10pm where thousands of Muslim devotees from different parts of the district took part in the protest.

Meanwhile, a man named Sumon Das Gupta was detained for questioning over the Facebook status of his brother Babu Das Gupta in Kotalipara of Gopalganj.
Locals said Babu posted a Facebook status insulting the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Kotalipara police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Zillur Rahman said that the situation in Kotalipara is calm at present adding, “We have detained Sumon for questioning.”
