Journos attacked while investigating illegal shark oil production
Local journalists protest and demand immediate arrest of the attackers
Three local journalists were attacked while trying to investigate a shark fish oil, skin and ears smuggling racket in Cox's Bazar.
The incident took place when Cox's Bazar online news portal Territorial News (TTN) Chief Reporter Azim Nihad, Reporter Rahul Mahajan and Cameraman Lokman Hakim went to Nuniachhara on Sunday morning to collect news and video footage of a shark oil factory.
At that time, one Mostaq Ahmed attacked the journalists. Upon receiving the news, the police and journalist leaders reached the spot and rescued the journalists. The assailants fled at that time.

On Monday, journalists held a human chain and protest rally at the Cox's Bazar Municipality premises against the attack on three of their journalists.
The protesters demanded the arrest of the attackers within 24 hours and destroy the illegal shark oil factory.
The protestors said: "Journalists always talk to the masses about realities. They speak about the development and prosperity of the nation. Journalists work from the front lines during the country's transition periods, But the identified criminals as black marketeers have become quick in silencing the journalists.”
A number of social, cultural and professional organizations including Reporters Unity Cox's Bazar, Sangbadik Sangsad, Shishu Kishor Sangathan Jatiya Khelaghar Asar, Bangladesh Paribesh Andolan (BAPA) staged the protest rally.
A case has been filed with Cox's Bazar Sadar Model police station in this connection.
