20 injured as Chhatra Dal clashes with BCL, Juba League in Narayanganj

At least 20 people were injured when Chhatra Dal men engaged in a clash with Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and Jubo League in Narayanganj. 

The clash erupted when BNP activists and Chhatra Dal men brought out a rally protesting the rising prices of commodities in Bhulta flyover area on Wednesday.

According to local people, Chhatra Dal activists led by Masudur Rahman took position at the flyover area where they got into a heated argument with upazila Jubo League chief Kamrul Hassan Tuhin and other leaders of Juba League and the BCL.

At one point, the two sides started hurling brick chips at each other which left at least 20 people injured.

A number of cars and buses were vandalized during the clash, bringing the traffic in the area to a halt.

Police later reached the scene and brought the situation under control.

Meanwhile, Nazmul Hassan Shobuj, BCL’s upazila unit vice president alleged that they were only trying to stop Chhatra Dal activists from vandalising vehicles.
