Bangla Tribune, a major online news portal which recently stepped into its sixth year, celebrated the occasion with a colourful program.
The fast-growing Bangla news outlet was launched on May 13, 2014.
To celebrate the occasion, Bangla Tribune organized a discussion at its office in Panthapath, Dhaka on Wednesday.
Information Minister Hasan Mahmud was the chief guest at the event, which was also attended by Bangla Tribune Publisher Kazi Anis Ahmed, Director and Awami League lawmaker Kazi Nabil Ahmed, member of the outlet’s board of directors and renowned Rabindra Sangeet artiste Amena Ahmed, Editor Zulfiqer Russell, Executive Editor Harun Ur Rashid, and Dhaka Tribune Editor Zafar Sobhan, among others.
In his speech, the information minister thanked Kazi Anis for being regular in paying salaries and providing other benefits to the news portal's journalists and employees.
Addressing the event, Kazi Nabil said: “Bangla Tribune has bagged success in the past five years. But in doing so, we faced challenges on several occasions. I firmly believe and hope that Bangla Tribune will continue being at the forefront of journalism in future.”
He credited the news portal’s journalists and employees for the achievement.

Congratulating the Bangla Tribune family, Dhaka Tribune Editor Zafar Sobhan said it delivered high quality journalism since its launch five years ago. “For this, we feel proud to be a sister concern of Bangla Tribune.”
Zulfiqer Russell said they often felt pressure from different quarters while running reports independently, and urged the information minister to look into it.
