Startup Dhaka launches their online school
Arif Khan said, “We should not settle for good because good is the enemy of great. Such initiatives from Startup Dhaka will help Bangladesh to take that leap from good to great.” The Startup Dhaka Online School is a platform for new startups and first time entrepreneurs to access market tested insights from industry specialists. The website covers courses on different topics that will help any individual to learn the basics about starting a new business. The industry specialists have shared their knowledge to help new startups start their journey and help avoid common mistakes while starting new ventures. CEO of Startup Dhaka, Mustafizur R Khan said, "We are fortunate to get a partner like Startup Bangladesh who has helped us to build the foundation of the online startup school and our goal is to build the largest online startup school in the country. By the end of 2018, we plan to launch a minimum of 100 lessons and deliver it to 10,000 young entrepreneurs.” Startup Bangladesh is an initiative of ICT division which has taken up various projects to support and fund startups in Bangladesh in alignment with the vision of Digital Bangladesh. Under the Special Fund project of ICT division, Startup Dhaka received funding which supported the online school platform. Each lesson is supported by online quiz, so that people can retain learning by using the platform. After passing each course, students will receive certifications from the Startup Bangladesh and Startup Dhaka. This funding enabled it to offer courses free of charge, but in the future, the Startup Dhaka may introduce paid courses which are beyond the initial funding. Deputy Project Director of iDEA Project, Startup Bangladesh said, "The way Bangladesh has become a hub for readymade garments, in the same way we want Bangladesh to become a hub for high level digital work. And Startup Dhaka is helping Bangladesh to progress in that direction." The startup scene in Bangladesh is comparatively new but has seen growing interest from students and young professionals alike. Startup Dhaka constantly pushes young entrepreneurs to come forward with their ventures and has empowered them through events and accelerator program that is has been running in partnership with Grameenphone for the past two years. However, there are limited avenues for startups to engage with mentors and access to quality startup curriculum. Keeping that in mind, Startup Dhaka started working on this online school last year, and started developing contents that are based on personal experience from investing in multiple local startups and running the accelerator program. In the future, the Startup Dhaka Online School will get more mentors on board with a more diverse course plan to keep helping startups in Bangladesh. The platform currently has video content on - Starting Up With an Idea, Minimum Viable Product, Digital Consumer Journey, Social Media and Digital Marketing, Growth Hacking, Business Model Canvas, Funding and Investment.
