Bangladesh hosts international debating tournament after seven years

How the tournament shaped up

A year ago the club composed IUB Ascension 2016 which was a National Inter School Debating Tournament and the competition was a tremendous achievement. That is the point at which they got ready for scaling up to a grander event. They started to dream of facilitating an international competition. Bangladesh Debating Community is growing quickly and they needed a worldwide competition to practice their skill and enrich their experience. In Bangladesh, debating is a costly practice. Our debaters travel to various countries to attend worldwide tournaments to increase their debating knowledge and gain exposure. IUB needed to help out these debaters from schools, colleges and universities to pursue thriving at international platforms. Along these lines, the possibility of IUB Ascension 2017 - Where Ideas Soar, an International Debating Tournament got set up. With the monstrous help and support from IUB management and administration, their international dream tournament materialized under the guidance of.Ashraful Amin Director, Council Affairs and Secretary, Board of Trustees Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), Lima Chowdhury Deputy Director, Undergraduate Admission and Financial Aid Office Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) and PriyankaDey Assistant Director, Undergraduate Admission and Financial Aid Office Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB).

The theme

Debating tournaments all over the world run at a basic format yet IUB ventured up and presented imaginative subjects in the level headed discussion in thought as well as in type of keepsakes, adornments, outlines, visuals, print materials, and so on. Where last year the theme was Superhero and Comics, this year they introduced magic and fantasy. The campus was entirely transformed and the outdoor center courtyard area was turned into an actual Quidditch Pitch from the Harry Potter series. To everyone's astonishment, robed characters on real brooms hung midair. It was a surreal atmosphere of fun, facts and fiction! For Break Night (where the announcements are made on which teams have advanced to the knock out stage), two band exhibitions by Blunderware and Circus Police left the crowd thrilled. Naur also performed a splendid Fire Spinning Show. Ascension was a mysteriously magical ordeal for all who attended. "We longed to make it the greatest debating stage in the nation with a uniqueness that goes beyond each national as well as international debating competition. We, from IUBDC trust we have accomplished it. The three days of enchanted ride was an aftereffect of three months of planning and diligent work by the organizing committee," expressed Zubair Ridoan, President of IUBDC.
