The Apple roundup
Nothing revolutionary is going with Apple as of yet, but the tech giants have revealed a few new things or changes to their product lines. This past Tuesday morning, the company introduced a couple of new devices (or at least new versions) and a very interactive application.

UP IN THE AIR

Well, there hasn’t been any real advancements in the realm of tablets, as more and more consumers are opting for the 2-in-1 hybrids from the laptop world. Apple has decided to close off production of the iPad Air models. They are now sticking to, simply, the iPad. This subtle move sees the Air 2 taking its final bow, while the new iPad takes its place. It’s basically the same features with slightly upgraded specs. Even more important for the 9.7-inch iPad is that it’s actually much cheaper. The base, 32GB Wi-Fi only model starts at $329 (Tk26,200). The most significant change is scrapping the A8 chip for the recent A9 chip that is similar to that of the iPhone 6S. They’ve also decided to get rid of the iPad Mini 2 yet have held onto the Mini 4, which is now offered in a 128GB model. Tech 1 copy123

PAINT THAT TOWN RED

It’s always a good thing to contribute to charities and foundations that support a good cause. The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will soon be available in a vibrant red aluminium. The new colour signifies the non-profit (Red) fundraiser that fights HIV and AIDS in the sub-Saharan African region. This, of course, is nothing new as the company has raised more than $130 million towards this effort since 2006. The new stunning red iPhones will be available in markets near the end of this month.

SHORT BUT BIG

The younger sibling iPhone SE will be seeing a new upgrade in memory, jumping from 16GB or 64GB to 32GB or 128GB models. The 4-inch old school designed phone’s price, however, remains the same, starting at $399.

CLIP IT

An interesting turn of events, well not really, Apple has introduced a new app for the mobile variety. It’s a new social-oriented video editing app called Clip. It’s like iMovie in the format of Snapchat. Or Snapchat on steroids. Users will be able to trim footage or add effects, caption and add soundtracks to their videos. We’ve already seen many interactive and fun additions to its native iMessage, Apple is just jumping on the let’s copy Snapchat train. There is already the “stories” features on Instagram, Whatsapp, and Facebook Messenger, Clip just takes things to a different level. The videos are in a square frame so they are more suitable to fit in Instagram or Twitter. The app works on the iPhone 5S and later models in April.
