Spring into the weekend
As exciting as it may sound to some, this transition period can be a tad tricky. Sure, the incredible chill is gone, but it’s not quite completely warm just yet. So what do you do? You mix a little bit of past season’s aesthetics with the new season’s colourful palette. Don’t go too wild now. Just as we find ourselves in between seasons, your look has to have plenty of balance on its own. The best way to show this off is in your weekend casual outfits.

Thursday/Friday suave

The first look comes from Nick Jonas featured recently on GQ. This is a clear distinction of what dressing smart-casual means. When folks think casual, they automatically think relaxed without any real effort. Wrong, kind of. Yes, you have to make sure, more than anything, you are comfortable in what you wear. You have to make sure the clothes aren’t squeezing you but are actually hugging you. The hug, as you should already know, is a very important aspect in style; fit is the most important factor. From head-to-toe, Nick is seen in his so-fresh-so-clean navy bomber jacket, black t-shirt, slim-fit dressy jeans and a pair of gorgeous slip-ons, which pretty much looks like Vans got the high-street fashion makeover. And when we’re talking about Thursday or Friday nights, you want to make sure everything looks so damn fit that each item looks like it was meant to be paired with the other. Bomber jackets can range from ridiculous price tags to a more affordable fitting in stores like Urban Truth. In other words, you will never fall short of options. Taking Nick’s outfit into consideration, you are more than free to play with the colour choice. Just make sure you aren’t flying off the contrast department. Each colour in his look compliments the next, and that’s how it always should be. The look is also versatile – a look that can be worn throughout the day, from a casual setting to a semi-formal evening out.

Saturday chill

[caption id="attachment_48565" align="aligncenter" width="208"]gq-steven-yeun123 Steven Yeun Photo: Fame Flynet Pictures[/caption] Look, you can party all weekend if you want, that still doesn’t excuse the fact that a new week is about to start once Saturday is done and dusted. We’d recommend you take a more chill approach to the last day of the weekend, but do what you have to do. This is where the second, minimalist flavours come into affect. Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead) was seen in one of the most effortless looks you can pull off during the weekend. This is when you take things down a notch because you simply cannot be bothered to impress anyone. However, and make sure you write this down, going nonchalant doesn’t mean you don’t put any effort in your look at all. He had a relaxed-fitted sweater, not so slim-fit rolled up jeans, and a pair of some heavy duty, yet slick, brown boots. Not to mention the slightly hipster sunglasses. This outfit isn’t as easy as it seems. At first glance, it looks like the threw on whatever was laying on the floor from the night before. Attention to details, gentlemen. Take his rolled up jeans, for example. They look absolutely comfortable, showing off more details on the main item of this weekend look: his boots. Get yourself a pair of straight-leg (still quite fitted in modern-day standards), roll those denim legs up and let those boots breathe the fresh air. The sunglasses are an added bonus, since we aren’t completely exposed to the sun just yet, as it tends to play hide and seek in the transition into the new, warmer season. This look can also be easily worn with the beloved Henley shirt, just in case a sweater is a bit too much for a warmer than usual day.
