With March being the Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day falling this week, the 6th issue of Cartoon People’s Deshi Character Design Challenge (DCDC) was aptly themed “Shundori Bandhobi”.
The guest judge for this challenge was Bishwajit Goswami, renowned artist and Lecturer in the Drawing and Painting Department at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Dhaka University. The guest judge selected the winners of the 1
st and 2
nd place, while 3
rd and 4
th place winners were jointly decided by Cartoon People and popular vote.
This challenge received some 80+ stunning entries, in various styles, and picking the best ones was in itself a challenge for the judges.
Rakeeb Razzaq snagged the top honour, depicting his Shundori Bandhobi in a classic cotton sari. Second prize went to Morshed Mitu for his sporty bandhobi with her Converse shoes, messy topknot and backpack. Ishrat Jahan Shaeera’s yellow-clad bandhobi was voted third, with a sari that looks very Beauty and the Beast. Oishik Jawad was voted fourth, and his character was a selfie-obsessed artist.
The winners and featured artists will be displayed on the Cartoon Peoples page. Stay tuned for more design challenges.
