Beaded wire earrings might seem difficult to make, but they are really very simple if you have the right tools and materials. A pair of handmade beaded earrings will radiate elegance and sophistication. Plus, you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing your envy-inducing earrings are handcrafted. This Pohela Boishakh, you can easily create a beautiful pair of beaded wire earrings to give as a gift to your loved one, or to match your special outfit.
List of supplies:
• Craft wire or jewellery wire – 12 gauge and 24 gauge
• Craft pliers – cutting, looping and flat nose pliers
• Seed beads – golden and white
• Round red bead – 1 cm
• Earring hooks
• Jump ring
• Cowrie shells
• Jewellery charms – of your choice
• Ruler
Instructions:
Step -1:
Get the 12 gauge wire bundle and cut out two pieces of 15 cm long wires. The length of the wire cutouts in the first step would depend on the size you’d prefer for the earrings. As I’m forming a triangle shape for the earrings, I’ll be dividing the 15 cm into three parts and using the open ends to create loops.
Step -2:
Grab any one of the 15 cm wire cutouts. Use the looping pliers to create two small loops on both open ends of the wire. The loops on both ends took about 1 cm each, leaving 13 cm of the wire straight. I’m keeping 4.5 cm on both sides which leaves 4 cm wire in the middle. Leave 4.5 cm straight along any one end and then bend the wire to 60 degrees (more or less) as we’re forming a triangle.
Step - 3:
Similarly, bend the other end of the wire to 60 degrees towards the same directions and there, we have a triangle wire base ready for the earrings!
Step - 4:
Grab the charms selected for the earrings; I’m using cowrie shells and mini bell charms. Attach jump rings with the charms.
Step - 5:
Attach the charms with the triangle earring base through its open end. I’m keeping the cowrie shell in the middle and the bell charms on both sides.
Step - 6:
Grab the 24 gauge wire and coil the wire four times around either of the side bars of the triangle base, from its bottom end.
Step - 7:
Insert seed beads of your choice into the coiled wire through its open end.
Step - 8:
Once the beading reaches the bar on the opposite side, coil the wire around it 4 or times again. Make sure that the wire coiling is nice and tight.
Step - 9:
Continue to add more seed beaded layers inside the triangle frame (base). But remember to stop once it reaches nearly the top end. Keep a small gap for a 1 cm round bead at the top end of the triangle base.
Step - 10:
Similarly, attach the 1 cm round bead and coil the remaining wire around the side bar. Cut off extra wire if required.
Step - 11:
Attach jump rings on both loops and then join them through another jump ring in the middle. Attach an earring hook into the middle jump ring to complete the earring. Similarly, craft the other earring to complete the pair!
