A sweet symphony

Old traditions made sweeter

Update : 01 May 2020, 12:27 PM

There’s a saying that goes: “Food unites all”. Mishti has been the staple food item for Bengalis in every occasion for as long as we can remember. Bringing in their expertise to an age-old tradition, Mithaiwala stepped into the game, raising the bar for sweet shops across the country.

Mithaiwala set the goal of changing the take-away, and created an atmosphere where customers can come in, grab a chair, and try out the sweets they have to offer, primarily targeting the youth.

Initially, Mithaiwala was just an online venture. Gradually, upon doing some market research, it started with commercial stores. Till date, they have more than four branches. In the span of just a few months, their stores started buzzing with people of all ages, coming to the store and sharing some good moments over a plate of mishti. It was the taste and quality of their sweets that gained them popularity on a massive scale.

Having such an innovative and unique menu, they have traditional and fusion sets of sweets, such as -- kaju, baked blueberry doi, mango doi, rabri, mihidana tiramisu, gulab jamun cheese cake, strawberry roshogolla, and so much more. Amongst them, the most popular are the kolija shingara, the rabri jilapi package, kesorfuli, indrani, gur roshogolla, and a few others.

It takes more than an innovative menu and taste to create a brand that sets oneself apart from any other brand. In order to create a name for itself, Mithaiwala maintains some very strict policies, like keeping the sweets in the chillers at all times and ensuring the quality of the food. There’s no compromising when it comes to hygiene. Instead of using glass plates or one-time plastic ones, they use hygienic non-reuseable tal pata bati. This way, once a customer has finished having their sweets, they can easily dispose of it. On the other hand, sweets produced are sold within one to two days. In terms of food quality, they purchase all the ingredients from reputed brands; they also refrain from using powdered milk, additives or excessive sugar, which only increase the weight of the sweets. To top it all off, the company has designed high quality packaging and materials to satisfy the customers.

Mithaiwala not only recognizes customers’ demands but also their responsibility towards the society. They have a program called “Ek ta mishti, ekta hasi”, where they work with several NGOs and to support underprivileged children and the elderly from old age homes.
