From an online store to Miss Universe Bangladesh’s wardrobe sponsor, Anzara brings you dazzling attires

"Most of the brides coming out of the trial room after the final fitting, comes out with a bright smiles.” shares Naureen Era, one of the founders of the exclusive women’s wear, Anzara. Anzara started from a mere conversation between two lovers. Opening up about the story about Anzara, Era mentioned her then-boyfriend, now husband, Abir Rahman. She said: “When I told him about my dream to open up a store, he said it’s high time you went for it.” With Era’s sincere passion for designing and with Abir’s financial and marketing skills, the duo took the relationship forward as business partners, and together started their clothing store, Anzara.

Anzara began as an online venture on 2016. By 2019, they had opened two branches in Banani, showcasing their exclusive collections.

Era’s dream of being a designer was not sudden; it started when she was very little. She would often find herself fiddling with her pencil and sketching designs. When she grew up, ,she started designing dresses for herself, her friends, and family. She even had her own boutique page, where she would put her designing talent to work.

With Abir giving her the courage to stick to her dream, they began their online venture, and soon went in search for a suitable location for Anzara.

Abir faced difficulties working full time as well as giving time to Anzara. With a weary tone Abir said: “I was not able to give time to my own brand, but was selling someone else’s.” He decided to quit his job and dedicate his entire time to Anzara. “A business without risks is impossible.” says Abir.

In the following year, the business ran smoother than ever and they started introducing their bridal collections. “We wanted to change the mind set of having to go to India for bridal shopping. We even brought exclusive collections that were not bridal, so that a bride has more than her wedding day to shop for.” said Era.

When it comes to shopping for the big day, any bride would want to find that perfect attire that would fit their budget. Keeping most people’s budgets in mind, Anzara lets customers book dresses in advance and offers various payment methods. From luxury wear, fashionable exclusive attire, gharara, lehenga, kamiz, to glimmering cape, they have it all.

Anzara was one of the wardrobe sponsors for Miss Universe Bangladesh, 2019. “I remember when Azra apu walked to our store. She was so fascinated to see our collection that she said ‘We have to have Anzara for our crown wearing ceremony!’”

What’s your take on working with your spouse as a business partner?

From Era’s point of view, she says that it’s easy to trust her husband when it comes to keeping track of the business's small details, accounts, and managerial decisions. Even when they are sitting at the beach, they talk about life and business altogether. No matter where they go, they are able to stick together and generate ideas.

Abir says that they have no weekends and he doesn’t get to come home from work and have a conversation over tea like any every other husband out there. However, the constant dependency of the work keeps them connected and that’s what’s important for both, their married and business life.
