Meet Rahat -- a man notorious for his parodies on YouTube, and also some eccentric telefilms Dhaka has seen in the last decade. He adds a touch of his dry humour and impactful satire in all he does. This month, Avenue T got in touch with him to find out more about what he stands for.

Which do you enjoy more -- making YouTube content or directing films?

Directing films.

Biggest inspiration in terms of content creators?

Can’t think of a single one, I am inspired by bits and chunks of many.

First movie you watched that moulded you to become the director you are today?

Human nature. I distinctly remember watching it on Star Movies in 1998, and being completely blown away by it. This film made me realize how films can be used to say things that can’t be said in any other way, and it solely influenced my determination to become a film-maker when I grow up. But I later learned that the film was actually released in the year 2001. So, there’s no way I could have watched it in 1998. A glitch in the matrix, I suppose.

Childhood celebrity crush?

Alicia Silverstone.

How do you plan the content for Buttfixx?

There is no active planning process; I am simply at the mercy of random shower thoughts. After an idea pops up and seems feasible, I write a script and the video making process begins. I cannot make anything without writing it first.

Be honest, and don’t hold back -- how did the final season of GoT make you feel?

Just. Disappointed.

If you could create an app, what purpose would it serve?

It would be an app to help hijackers coordinate their operation. The idea came into my mind after I got hijacked in Hatirjheel. The second reason why I never made the app is because I don’t know any programming language.

Favourite stand-up comedian of all time?

Ricky Gervais.

Survival tactics for social gatherings?

To not show up.

If you were to write a script based on your life, who would you cast to play yourself?

Someone without a protruding tummy.

During winter season: comfort over style or style over comfort?

Comfort over style in all aspects of life.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how excited are you about life right now?

9.7

Most important question -- chikon jilapi or mota jilapi?

Mota jilapi.

Name a famous person you'd like to have dinner with

No one, because I’m bad with table manners and wouldn’t want to embarrass myself in front of them.

Ideal weekend: indoors or out and about?

Indoors, watching movies.

Top three countries on your bucket list?

France, Italy, Germany.

Most overrated TV show in your opinion

Breaking Bad. Heard a lot about it and started watching after the show stopped airing; managed to drag till season three and could not go on anymore. It felt too slow (interestingly, I have been keeping up with The Walking Dead, which is arguably even slower and repetitive) and the story simply failed to intrigue me. It’s got great acting though.

Which animal do you most relate to?

Humans.

What's your guilty pleasure?

Eating sugary food.

What is one profession you’ve always been fascinated with, but will probably never attempt to get into?

Video game development. If I had a guarantee of an extremely long life, I would have definitely attempted it at some point.
