October this year provided us with an unprecedented amount of focus on self-care, with global campaigns organized around World Mental Health Day. That momentum continues on to this month, which kicked off Movember and also celebrates International Men’s Day, and all the focus is on redefining what it means to be a man.
Menswear designer Samuel Hoque weighs in the best way he knows how: through fashion. “Men these days are far less threatened by colour, and print,” he says. While he admits toxic masculinity is still a major issue that is as much a men’s mental health concern as it is a concern on many levels for women, he believes that there is a conversation about self-care and self-expression that is only getting louder. In this special lookbook created exclusively for Avenue T, he explores the fun side of men’s fashion: loud, proud, and playful.
