What would be your perfect cologne for office? Undoubtedly everyone wants to wear a scent which carries confidence, professionalism and a hint of their personality. A lawyer, an engineer, a banker, a businessman, a doctor or a student all have different work environments. What might be loved in a radio station might not fit well at a conservative corporate office. Similarly, if you have work outside under the sun in Bangladesh a bright citrusy fragrance will cover body odor nicely but might be a bit too overwhelming if you wear it indoors.

Another very important issue that comes under consideration when you are thinking about office fragrance is “silage/projection”. What it means is that how far away people have to be to smell your cologne. In Bangladesh, most of the offices do not have very big open spaces and co-workers are seated very close to each other in a confined room with less overall airflow. Thus you should be wearing a cologne that is not too loud rather very subtle and can not be detected until someone is nearby. So a moderate projection is okay for such settings as you need not overwhelm people in the vicinity. However, if you are working outdoors or in a wide-open space with sufficient air flow, you get a lot more flexibility to be expressive with your fragrance and will not be limited to fragrances with light or moderate projection rather can go slightly heavy and wear scent that suits the mood of the day.

You also need to keep in mind the longevity of the perfume that you wear as most people spend five to eight hours a day in office. A safe choice for workplace will be softer aquatic scents during summer and springtime and heavy ones for winter.

With all these in mind, let’s check out these 5 fragrances that are considered as good colognes to wear at office:

ADG Profumo

ADG Profumo performs well in both indoor and outdoor situations, hence it is a more versatile fragrance. It fits very well for formal meetings as well as for non-formal events that one might have to attend right after office. ADG lays down a brilliant aquatic, aromatic, woody and spicy composition. This is available in 40ml, 75ml and 125ml bottles and price ranging from Tk4,500 to Tk11,000.

Versace Pour Homme

Undoubtedly, Versace Pour Homme is one of the top candidates for a non-offensive, confidence projecting, professional smelling scent. This brings out a very nice warm, and spicy undertone with a citrusy splash on the top and a musky and amber-ish accord in the base. This is considered as one of the best clean and masculine fragrance and is praised by the critics for having a timeless fragrance DNA that will not be outdated even after 20 years. It can be worn in day or night time, in summer, winter or spring, this is an absolute all year scent. It is also very available and will cost around Tk4,500 for a 100ml bottle.

CK Eternity

This is a classic scent from Calvin Klein which projects good energy, aroma, fresh spice, and mild citrusy note. Eternity does not last eternally, therefore, it is just perfect for Bangladeshi offices where you are confined in small rooms with small desks and colleagues sitting very close to you. The price is also very reasonable, a 100 ml bottle of CK Eternity will cost around Tk3,000.

Valentino Uomo Intense

If you spend your office time in a cool air controlled room with colleagues and clients sitting a small distance away then go for Valentino Uomo Intense. It has a very good projection for this type of environment and will last the whole day. It has notes such as iris (plant), vanilla, tonka bean, leather, and citrus. A 100 ml bottle will cost around Tk7,000.

Bvlgari Aqva Amara

For smelling fresh under the scorching sun you will need Aqva Amara. Currently this perfume is not in production anymore but its still available in some stores. Aqva Amara has been described as “the strength of the ocean” by popular reviewer Jeremy and it has made to almost every top summer fragrance list. This spicy fresh yet warm perfume opens with Sicilian orange and neroli (an essential oil distilled from the flowers of the Seville orange) with patchouli and aquatic notes revealing over time. A 100ml bottle of Aqva Amara will cost around Tk5,000.
