Faded to fabulous - touching up like a pro

Makeup hacks for working women on Valentine’s Day

Update : 12 Feb 2019, 03:59 PM

Like most other days, the sun rises in the east but there’s something special about this day. A very good morning is all you can say. Everything starts out so beautifully. Delicately glowing foundation, neatly applied eyeliner, eyelashes perfectly raised and thickened, flawlessly applied blush and smooth lipstick to finish the look. You may start your day looking your hundred percent but you keep getting worried about how you’ll look at the end of the day. After all, it’s Valentine’s Day and you have a date just after work.

An overtiring day at the office will dull your makeup after eight hours of straight work. Just after lunch you’ll feel like nothing on your face is looking right - rather it’s going to the left. Foundation fades away, blush gets too heavy, eyeliner smudges and lipstick wears off leaving you disappointed. But going out straight from work, your makeup needs to go from faded to fabulous and fast. Getting your freshly applied morning makeup look back isn’t that difficult if you can use the touch-up hacks with minimal tension. At the end of the day, it’s all about touch-ups if you want to look fabulous on your special day.

It’s better to focus on quick makeup fixes so that you can get an instant fresh look right after your tiring day at work. Here are some easy and quick makeup hacks to make your special day way more beautiful.

Focus on your lips

Lipstick is the easiest and quickest makeup fix with the most significant result. If you’re wearing a nude lipstick at work, make sure you gently wipe it off with a blotting paper first. Then go for a bold colour on your lips like dark red or poppy pink as it’s Valentine’s Day. Even if you can’t make time for anything else, make sure you colour your lips right to bring a drastic difference to your face.

Mascara on point

The secret key with mascara touch-up is not to overdo them. Gently swipe up your mascara on your eyelashes once or twice. If you keep reapplying mascara your eyelashes will clump and look fragile.

Powder puff

Dust on a light layer of powder after applying the concealer on the areas that are most likely to shine again. This will set your makeup with a flawless finish providing sheer coverage with a natural look.

Highlight bone structure

The highlighter will not only give you an extra shine and glow but also it will make you look more awake by adding a little bit of life to your look. Apply highlighter under your brow bone to give the illusion of larger eyes, on your cheek over blush, on the bridge of the nose to make it look slimmer and lastly on the inner corner of your eyes to brighten up the dark areas.

Dab it away

Dab away the excess oil from your face with a blotting paper or tissue paper. This is your first secret touch-up weapon. Concentrate on your T-zone more. Make sure you do this before you do anything else. This will help you to get rid of the extra shine on your face giving you a soft matte finish.

Under eye concealer

Applying foundation again all over your face can be messy and time-consuming. You can mix concealer and moisturizer in a 50:50 ratio to regenerate your skin with extra coverage. Try to focus on the inner corners of your eyes where the shadows are the deepest. This will instantly brighten your eye look. You can also use a damp sponge for extra dewiness.

Facial spray

Finish your touch-up by using facial spray over your makeup. It will only take two seconds but leave a long-lasting impact on your face by locking your makeup down for the rest of the night.

Buff on blush

You can save your face from looking pale by adding a flush of colours. This will add a natural glow to your face and contour your face as well. Choose the one that goes perfectly with your complexion giving you the perfect look for your happy hour.
