In partnership with Bengal Lights Books (BLB), The AKS Khan Centre for Excellence (ACE) is going to organize a workshop on Creative Writing – featuring Bangladesh’s leading sci-fi fiction writer in English Saad Z Hossain.

The workshop will be held on Tuesday at University of Chittagong (VC's Conference Room); it will run from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Mainly focusing on how to write short stories, the workshop will provide expert guidance on developing character and plot, writing dialogue and describing action, besides general guidelines and best practices for creative writing.

The workshop is open to students attending universities and schools located in Chattogram, Cox's Bazar and Comilla, which are in partnership with the AKS Khan Centre for Excellence to improve learning and teaching standards.

Saad Z Hossain, the main speaker at the workshop, is an internationally acclaimed, Dhaka-based writer who writes thrilling fiction in various genres including science fiction, fantasy and black comedy.

He studied English Literature and Commerce at the University of Virginia.

His third novel, The Gurkha and the Lord of Tuesday, coming out in August this year, belongs to the post-apocalyptic science fiction genre.

His short stories have appeared in many international anthologies including The Djinn Falls in Love and Other Stories and The Apex Book of World SF: Volume 4.
