While education is the backbone of a nation, educators are its builders. Teaching has traditionally been regarded as a noble profession, and throughout history, teachers have been regarded as the most influential part of any society.

Over centuries, teaching has evolved and with the technological advancement currently sweeping over the education system across the world, there has been a rise of modern educators who connect with students across the world and shares lesson on various subjects — from basic language course to advance mathematics to name a few.

Raihana Haque is such an educator. She hails from a small village named Banshgari, situated five kilometres off Bhairab Upazila, in the low-lying Kishoreganj district. Raihana is the head teacher of Banshgari Government Primary School who, in addition to her regular teaching profession, uses technology to connect with hundreds of students across the world and teaches on the digital platform.

Raihana Haque is a icrosoft Innovative Education (MIE) expert who uses Microsoft’s platform and tools in her classroom to educate her students.

Microsoft started MIE program to provide support to teachers worldwide who want to apply unique and effective teaching method to inspire students and take their teaching to the next level with the help of technology. Teachers can use different Microsoft education tools to share innovative ideas and include themselves into the course of MIE program. Through this special initiative, Microsoft acknowledges all modern teachers who effectively provides teaching using digital platforms.

Primarily, Raihana has been involved with a2i Teacher’s Portal since 2012, and later came to know about the Microsoft Educator community. Then she created her profile in the MIE portal, and gradually, with guidelines from Microsoft, she ranked herself up as an MIE expert.

Throughout her journey, Raihana visited many countries with her students through Skype. She continues to provide education to her students from different countries of the world using Microsoft 365, OneNote, Skype, Sway, Flip Grid, Minecraft and other tools. The platform helps her engage and interact with students and be a part of the worldwide Microsoft Educator community.

Raihana is very happy with Microsoft’s Innovative Educator platform as she has been able to enrich her own teaching experience and disseminate knowledge to many others across the world. The tools and methodology she uses is of very high standard, and it helps her accumulate content, learn from others, exchange ideas with her fellows and interact with her students in a virtual classroom.

Early this year, Raihana participated in E2, Education Exchange 2018 in Singapore as a proud Microsoft MIE expert and represented Bangladesh on a global platform where participants from 91 countries exchanged ideas and got to know about innovations in education.
