Viola by Fariha brings back flapper glam
Viola’s designer Fariha Tashmeen Tinny calls her Eid ul Fitr 2018 collection a “portrayal of the era of vintage fashion.” Indeed, with fringes and feathers and low-waisted, form-fitting silhouettes, one can’t help but recall the Roaring Twenties and the flapper dresses. The Viola interpretation sees pastel colours as a nod to our seasons, and hails the return of the short kameez and flared pants. Another innovation that the label has pulled off marvellously is the trouser sari, which celebrates the best of both worlds, and is a surprisingly retro look that is enjoying a revival.
