Life’s a breeze
One of the signs of a rise in people’s fortunes is evident in the rise of hotels and luxury services, testament to the fact that more people now have a certain amount of disposable income to spend on said services. That said, the culture of spas is still relatively new; as evidenced by the certain stigma attached to them. Thantawan Wanhom, the manager of Breeze Spa, the premiere spa located within Amari Dhaka, mentions with a pronounced blush, having to field calls asking for “certain services” that are decidedly not part of the menu. “I want more people to understand that a spa is a sort of wellness centre, which combines ancient wisdom and modern facilities to provide its clients with skincare and relaxation packages, and the girls working here are trained therapists.” The updated Breeze Spa treatments combine Chinese reflexology, Ayurvedic herbology and philosophies, and Thai massage techniques to provide packages that promise maximum relaxation and refreshment. Keeping in mind that different clients need different things out of a spa treatment, Breeze has introduced a line of aromatic massage and bath products in a variety of flavours to suit different moods, such as “Rejuvenated” to detox, “Serene” to relax, and “Energised” to, well, energize, and so on. The treatment menu also offers Mood scrubs and massages using this line of products, to suit different moods and achieve the desired results. Stepping into the spa, one is greeted by a beautifully serene lounge area, served with scented wet towels and cups of blue butterfly pea tea to invigorate the mind and body as a selection of services is presented. Once the selection has been made, the client is given a comfy pair of slippers and taken to a private room with a massage bed and adjacent shower. The treatment, which combines traditional massage, with healing crystals and natural oil, works to remove the buildup of toxins, relieve tension in the muscles, and help promote healthy skin. You follow the massage with a refreshing shower in the privacy of your cubicle and come out feeling like a new person. Given the quality of the products and the level of professionalism of the therapists, the treatments are a bit of a splurge, but given how fast the bookings come in, people are getting the bang for their buck.
