- Hearing the name you surely thought it was just another Japanese eatery which has opened in the capital. But don’t get fooled by the name as it’s not just another restaurant serving Japanese cuisine under one roof. What makes Tao Town different is that it is the first Pan-Asian bistro serving Japanese, Thai and Korean cuisines. And not just that, they have launched their new venture in the hoods of Dhanmondi, making the dreams of people living on this side of the town, craving decent Asian fusion cuisines come true.
Dhakaites, no matter what cuisine we’re having, like our food to be a bit spicy. And keeping that in mind, this eatery gives you the ultimate euphoria to your taste buds.
Located at Rangs KB square, in Satmasjid Road, the restaurant launched last Wednesday, on February 21. They have kept the interior elegant and well spaced with hanging lanterns and decors which give you the proper Pan-Asian restaurant feel. The decor is casual and authentic at the same time, having both table and booth seating, influenced by the Western style. Hence, it is a great place with comfortable ambiance to have a meal with your family and friends.
The back story – hear it from the owners
“Since we are all foodlovers, opening a restaurant was always our minds. Moreover, since most of us either live or work in and around Dhanmondi, we all felt the need for an authentic Thai and Sushi place, which has been missing in the area for a while.”
Choosing the location
“The fact that Dhanmondi lacks authentic Pan-Asian cuisine, and only has a handful of sushi places is felt by everyone in Dhanmondi. So when we all formed this amazing team with the intention of creating a Pan-Asian restaurant in KB Square in Dhanmondi, was our first choice as it’s already popular among students and youngsters, and comprises of a number of popular restaurants, where none of them serve authentic such cuisines.”
What sets Tao Town apart
“Tao Town is unique in the sense that it is the ultimate destination for signature dishes of not just one but a number of cuisines. And so, when is Tao Town, people get to try out a wide range of mouthwatering dishes under one roof.”
Having a Pan-Asian cuisine
“Tao Town offers various signature Japanese, Thai, Korean, and Indo-Malay cuisines. And those who like their food to be spicy and tangy, would love our Thai dishes. And for those who like Sushi with or without the raw fishy flavour which comes with it, can devour our wide selection of Maki Rolls.”
Story behind the menu
"A number of factors were considered while creating the menu. The menu offers something for everyone. Be it a spice-lover, fish-lover, or a meat-lover, there’s something for everyone."
Eyes on the price
“Prices have been set keeping students in mind. Tao Town intends to keep prices as reasonable as possible. For one meal price ranges from Tk500 to Tk1000 per person.”
The roots and the branches
"The name ‘Tao Town’ was randomly brainstormed by the partners. Tao is an ancient philosophy and a way of life. And in the future, Tao Town promises to make way for modern fusion dishes from the best of Asia."
