Sophomore slump be damned

From the quiet boutique days, and casual conversations with head designer and creative director, Mehruz Munir, the label has made an everlasting stamp in the local fashion scene. The autumn/winter collection, powered by BMW, was no exception. In fact, it heightened the value of our city’s most sophisticated menswear label. However, what stood out as equally fabulous was Zurhem’s bold and stunning women’s looks on the runway, transforming the entire ambiance to that of a premier show in Europe. Mehruz has never shied away from making statements on the runway. And if this second show under his belt has shown us anything, it is the constant reminder of his hard work and attention to detail. With a packed house inside the intimate Grand Ballroom of the Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden, you could clearly feel the electricity surging throughout the entire room. Mehruz himself is a man of few words. He likes to have his work do all the talking. From sensual silhouettes, leaving plenty of cuts for an evening of sophisticated action, to entire looks that would make a galaxy of stars blush, Mehruz held nothing back while his signature touches basked in the glory of the runway. And just like some of the highest paid, superstar athletes of the world, there was no dip in form. There was simply a performance paving the way for legendary accolades. The entire Zurhem team brought together a presentation that delivered an approving applause and smiles along the rows of stylish ladies and gentlemen in the audience. It left us in awe, not wanting this spectacular show to end. Take a bow, Zurhem. Take a bow. We’ll see you next year.
