Every child is born with immense potential, and the beautiful artwork produced by children with autism at an art camp is a testimony to this expression.

The art camp was organized by the Child Foundation in collaboration with the Dhaka University Faculty of Fine Arts, on the Charukola premises.

Encouraging social interaction and celebrating their abilities in art were the key objectives of the event.

Alongside the children, prominent artists including Kanak Chanpa Chakma, Monir Islam, and Hashem khan also participated in the art camp.

Renowned artist Kanak Chanpa Chakma, who participated in the event as a senior artist, told Dhaka Tribune: “I do not see any difference between these special needs children and other kids when I look at their paintings.”

Children with special needs can develop their social skills by participating in art camps like this, Monir Islam, a veteran artist, told Dhaka Tribune.

He suggested that more art camps need to be arranged outside of Dhaka for special needs children.

Rubina Akter, mother of a participant, told Dhaka Tribune that her child finds comfort in painting.

Alongside the art camp, an art exhibition by children with autism and a puppet show, were arranged as well.

93 students from 20 different schools participated in the art camp.

The artworks produced by the children and the senior artists will be auctioned later.

“We will give the money earned from the auction to the children as we believe it would inspire them." said Anowara Aana Aman, co-founder of Child Foundation.
