Bangladeshi motorsport racer Avik Anwar brought laurels for the country by qualifying for the inaugural Virtual Racing Championship as one of 28 participants out of a total of 4,500 interested registrations.

The final 28 candidates qualified using a personal computer, laptop, and PlayStation in the selection stage, and the VRC is scheduled to be held Saturday.

The racing series will include five rounds with two races per round and each event will witness the additional participation of two guest racers.

Anwar won Race 2 of the event, where he had to battle it out with India’s Viraj Jhala and Aiman Sadat, the other Bangladesh racer who took part in this race

Individual rounds will further consist of three practice sessions, one qualifying session and two races.

The gird for the first race will be formed on the basis of the qualifying session while the grid for the second race will be based on the top 12 contenders finishing in the first race.

Earlier in June last year, Avik became the first Bangladeshi to win an international motor sport event by clinching the Volkswagen Ameo Cup in India.
