With the fresh fatalities, the total death toll from Covid-19 clims to 1,109 in the division
Amid the worsening Covid-19 situation in Khulna, the division in a 24-hour span till Thursday morning registered its highest-ever fatalities with 39 new deaths.
With the fresh fatalities, the total death toll from Covid-19 reached 1,109 in 10 districts under the division, said Dr Rasheda Sultana, director of the Khulna Divisional Health Office.
Besides, 1,245 people were found infected with the deadly virus during the 24-hour period, taking the total tally to 57,520.
Of the new fatalities, there were seven each from Jessore and Kushtia districts, eight died in Khulna, four each in Jhenaidah and Satkhira, three in Narail and Meherpur, two in Chuadanga and one in Bagerhat.
As many as 38,930 patients have recovered so far across the division.
Meanwhile, the district has gone into a strict Covid-19 lockdown with the rest of Bangladesh, with the army and police ordered to stop people from leaving their homes except for emergencies or to buy essentials.
The bordering division had detected its first Covid-19 case in Chuadanga district on March 19 last year.
