Maleque says the recovery rate is also higher than other countries
Health Minister Zahid Maleque said Covid-19 infection and death rates are lower in Bangladesh than other countries while the recovery rate is higher.
“Around 80-82% of the Covid-19 infected are recovering. All the credit goes to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. This was possible because the health department is working properly under her leadership,” the minister said.
He was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of a raw material warehouse at Bhatbaur in Manikganj on Friday.

"There is a possibility of a rise in Covid-19 infection in the winter. The infection and death rate has been increasing in the last few days. Everyone needs to wear a mask and follow health safety guidelines to arrest the spread of the pandemic,” Maleque said.
The health minister’s comment comes at a time when Bangladesh is seeing a rise in the number of Covid-19 cases and deaths. On Friday, Bangladesh reported 2,252 new Covid-19 cases and 24 deaths.
The latest development took the number of total cases to 473,991 and total fatalities to 6,772.
