Death toll reaches 5,886
Bangladesh has recorded 25 more deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the number of total fatalities to 5,886.
The country also logged more than 404,000 coronavirus cases with 1,681 people testing positive over the same period.
With this development, the number of all confirmed cases so far jumped to 404,760.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) revealed the latest figures on Covid-19 in the country with a press release on Thursday.
The health authorities said 1,548 people recovered from the disease over the preceding 24 hours. So far, 321,281 patients have made full recovery across the country.

Of the 25 deceased, including 16 men, 15 were from Dhaka division and five from Chittagong, three from Sylhet and one each from Barisal and Mymensingh.
Twenty four of the victims died at different hospitals in the country while one died at home.
So far, 4,529 men (76.95%) and 1,357 women (23.05%) have died from Covid-19 across the country.
The mortality rate against the total number of cases detected so far stands at 1.45%.
The DGHS said 14,048 samples were collected from suspected Covid-19 patients in the last 24 hours.
As many as 14,268 samples, including the pending ones, were tested in the 112 authorized labs — both government and private — across the country.
The latest figures show an infection rate of 11.78%.
To date, 2,310,589 tests have been conducted in the country, leading to an overall infection rate of 17.52% so far.

The novel coronavirus broke out in China's Wuhan city in late December last year and quickly spread throughout the world, becoming a pandemic in less than three months.
The fast spreading coronavirus has claimed 1,180,352 lives and infected 44,843,380 people across the world till 4pm on Thursday, according to Worldometer.
As many as 32,772,412 people have recovered from Covid-19 which has spread to 215 countries and territories across the planet.
