Coronavirus is not leaving us soon, it will vibrate more in the upcoming days, she said
Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has urged her party colleagues to be prepared for the second wave of coronavirus.
“Coronavirus is not leaving us soon. It will vibrate more in the upcoming days, but the infection and death rate will be reduced,” she said.
The premier made the remark while giving an introductory speech in a meeting of the party’s presidium members at her official residence Ganabhaban on Wednesday morning.
Presidium members who attended the meeting confirmed it to Dhaka Tribune.
Matia Chowdhury, AL presidium member told this correspondent: “Our president discussed the country’s present scenario with us including the coronavirus, cyclone amphan, and the long lasting flood.”
“She assured us that the clouds of disaster will end… the sky will be cleared,” former minister Matia said quoting Sheikh Hasina.
Meeting insiders said the party leaders asked the prime minister about Covid-19 vaccine. In reply she said that her government has been communicating with all the countries and organizations that are manufacturing vaccines.
“Bangladesh will manage the most effective vaccine,” the party chief told the presidium members.
Abdur Rahman, another AL presidium member told this correspondent that the party president instructed them to complete all the organisational committees.
“Deprived party workers will get priority in the new committee,” Rahman added quoting Sheikh Hasina.
Meanwhile, at the outset of the discussion, a minute’s silence was observed as a mark of profound respect to the memories of Bangabandhu and other martyrs of the August 15 carnage, martyrs of the August 21, 2004 grenade attacks, and the leaders and activists who died recently, particularly AL Presidium Members Mohammad Nasim and Advocate Sahara Khatun.
Sheikh Hasina also thanked the party leaders and activists for their role in helping the Coronavirus, the flood and Cyclone Amphan affected people across the country.
