A total of 65 members of Bangladesh Police have so far died after contracting Covid-19, while 15,436 policemen have been infected with the novel coronavirus across the country as of Monday.
Among the infected policemen, 2,729 are from Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) alone, said sources at Police Headquarters.
So far, 13,257 policemen have made full recoveries from Covid-19. Most of the recovered policemen have joined their respective duty stations, the sources added.
Meanwhile, 18,257 policemen have been put in quarantine while 4,409 are undergoing treatment in isolation.
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Bangladesh went up to 260,507 with the detection of 2,907 new patients in the 24 hours til Monday morning.
The death tally rose to 3,438 with 39 new deaths.
