International development organization Brac is set to continue the operation of 40 of its Covid-19 testing booths after securing a donation from The Global Fund.
Earlier, Brac had informed the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) that it would be unable to continue the operation of the 40 booths past August 31 due to funding constraints.
In press release issued on Sunday, Brac said a letter on the continuation of the booths was scheduled to be sent to the DGHS on Monday, but news reports on the previous letter emerged first on Sunday.
“Brac is committed to continue to support the Government and the people of Bangladesh in any national crisis. It will continue to play a key role in the pandemic response and recovery, to the best of its ability and with support from the donors and partners,” the press release said.
Brac has established 97 booths across the country over the last six months, with its own funding, to assist the DGHS in Covid-19 testing.
