Another Ansar member has died of Covid-19. Five members, including one officer, died in the force from the virus till date.
The deceased was Jiyaul Haque, Battalion Ansar member of Khagrachari’s Dighinala.
He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at Chittagong Combined Military Hospital on Thursday.
On Wednesday, Jiyaul fell sick and was rushed to the local upazila health complex. When his condition deteriorated, he was taken to Chittagong Combined Military Hospital.
As he had coronavirus symptoms at the time of his death, samples were collected and sent for testing. The result came out on Friday where it confirmed that Jiyaul was Covid-19 positive.
Mehnaz Tabassum Rabin, deputy director of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
She said Jiyaul joined the force on April 18, 2015.
Jiyaul was from Shotiyarkhola village in Bishwambarpur upazila of Sunamganj.
He is survived by his wife and relatives to mourn his death.
He was laid to eternal rest in his village graveyard, Mehnaz said.
Bangladesh Ansar and VDP’s Deputy Director General (DDG) of Chittagong range Md Samsul Alam expressed grief over the death of Jiyaul.
According to Ansar, 903 Ansar members have been infected with the coronavirus so far while 488 of them have recovered.
