A Covid-19 isolation centre has been inaugurated at Halishahar in Chittagong city.
Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Mahabubor Rahman formally inaugurated the isolation centre on Tuesday.
Covid-19 infected people will receive treatment at the 80-bed facility, set up jointly by the CMP and Al Manahil Foundation.
The isolation centre, known as ‘Al Manahil Nurture General Hospital’, is equipped with a central oxygen system and high flow nasal cannula.
The CMP Commissioner expressed his optimism that the newly established facility would play an important role in containing Covid-19 infection and providing treatment to the people.
Al-Manahil Welfare Foundation, a voluntary organization, has been involved with arranging last rites for coronavirus victims in Chittagong since the onset of the deadly viral disease.
Till Tuesday, Chittagong had recorded a total of 10,477 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus. Of them, 198 patients have died of the deadly viral disease.
