The senior Awami League leader has been infected with Covid-19 and later suffered a stroke
Former health minister and Awami League leader Mohammed Nasim’s condition has further deteriorated with one of the doctors of the medical board formed his treatment describing his condition as ‘very critical’.
The senior leader of the ruling party is now being treated at the Bangladesh Specialized Hospital in the capital’s Shyamoli.
A 13-strong medical board has been formed for his treatment.
“His condition is very critical,” BSMMU VC Kanak Kanti Barua, a member of the board, told Bangla Tribune.
Prime Minister’s personal physician ABM Abdullah, who visited the former minister at the hospital, echoed.
“He suffered from a stroke once before … On top of that, he has been tested positive for Covid-19. His overall condition is critical,” he told Bangla Tribune.
On June 1, Nasim was admitted to Bangladesh Specialised Hospital as he was feeling unwell. Later, he tested positive for coronavirus.
Early on Friday, he suffered a stroke and had to immediately undergo a surgery.
After the surgery, his condition deteriorated within the 72 hours when he was under close observation.
