Nearly 23% of 12,704 suspected patients test positive in a single day
The daily percentage of people testing positive for Covid-19 in Bangladesh has reached an all-time high, with nearly 23% of the total number of samples tested coming back positive in a day.
The health authorities between Monday and Tuesday mornings tested 12,704 samples across the country, of which 2,911 — or 22.91% — came back positive.
Just a month ago, on May 2, the positive percentage was only 9.47% when 5,827 samples were tested and 552 people were found positive for Covid-19 in 24 hours.
Till May 24, that positive percentage in Bangladesh was below 20%.
Of the last nine days, since May 25, seven recorded over 20% positive case against tests conducted on suspected patients. Over 2,000 cases were reported every day on five of those days.
The authorities in Bangladesh is currently testing more than 10,000 people every day.
Until Tuesday noon, the country recorded 52,445 Covid-19 cases and 709 deaths from the deadly disease.
