They include a doctor at the Brahmanbaria jail
The prison authorities have confirmed three new Covid-19 cases, taking the tally of infections in jails across Bangladesh to 25.
The new infections include a doctor in Brahmanbaria, Assistant Inspector General (prisons) Md Manzoor Hossain told the Dhaka Tribune on Friday.
The two others are a prison guard in Rangpur and an inmate in Panchagarh, he said.
The doctor has quarantined himself at his residence while the prison guard has been kept in the isolation facility of Rangpur city corporation and the inmate has been transferred to the Rangpur Medical College Hospital, added the senior prison official.
So far, 22 guards of the Dhaka Central Jail have caught the disease and all of them, except one were posted in different hospitals in the capital, including the Dhaka Medical College Hospital and the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, according to Hossain
Another 93 inmates and guards were quarantined on Friday morning, he said.
Among them, 36 guards and 14 prisoners are from Dhaka division, a guard and an accountant in Sylhet division, a guard in Barisal division, eight guards in Rangpur division, and 10 guards and 22 prisoners in Chittagong division.
