According to sources, at least 39 prison guards, 36 prisoners and an official of the Department of Prisons are currently in quarantine across the country
At least two more prison guards of Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj have tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours, totalling the number to 21.
Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune, Assistant Inspector General (admin) of Prisons Md Monzur Hossain, said: “The two were infected with the virus while performing duty at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH)."
“Both of them are undergoing treatment at the Zinzira Hospital.”
“Of the total infected, 10 of our men are at the Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society of Bangladesh (OGSB) Hospital in Mirpur and the other nine are receiving treatment at the Mugda General Hospital,” he added.
“So far, only one prisoner has been infected with the deadly virus and is admitted at Mugda General Hospital,” he said.

As of Monday, Bangladesh confirmed 10,143 coronavirus cases with the death toll rising to 182 after five new fatalities were reported.
The fast spreading Covid-19 has so far killed 248,000 people in more than 200 countries and territories.
