Nine labs are in Dhaka and five in different districts; three more will be set up in other cities
Tests for the detection of Covid-19 infection are now being conducted in 14 labs, officials at the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) have said.
Of them, nine are in Dhaka and five are in different districts, the officials said, adding that three more labs were being set up in another three divisional cities.
In Dhaka, the test can be done at the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR), the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b), Institute of Public Health Nutrition, Institute for Developing Science and Health Initiatives, Dhaka Shishu Hospital, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Dhaka Medical College, and National Institute of Laboratory Medicine and Referral Centre (NILMRC).
The Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP) is conducting tests for the members of armed forces.
Meanwhile, testing is underway at Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases in Chittagong, and at four medical college in Rajshahi, Rangpur, Cox's Bazar and Mymenshingh, according to DGHS.
