
The government is planning to set up a database in Dhaka as a cyber security measure.
Additional Secretary to the ICT Division Md Harunur Rashid said there are plans to establish a database with a Tk2,000 crore budget.
"This will be the world's sixth such database. We will have a back-up storage in Jessore," he said while speaking at a seminar titled 'Cyber Security: An Overview' at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) as the chief guest on Tuesday, reports UNB.
The additional secretary also said information on the database can help detect a risk in advance, underscoring the need to prioritise to cyber security while designing software.
He said the database will be open to both government and private organisations. However, private organisations will have to pay a fee to use the database.
