The help centre titled “National Help Desk” would charge no money from the caller and would provide all kind of support nationwide in case of an emergency.
BTRC allocated the short code 999 to the ICT Division to run the service. The help desk is being set up at a cost of Tk60.5cr.
The help desk will be open 24/7. It promises to provide all kinds of support within the fastest time possible.
Mostly it will provide help with law enforcement agencies, ambulance and the fire service.
The initiative takes some major precautions - if a fake caller is identified once, that number will be blocked. All the calls will be recorded. Landline users will not be able to make calls.
